Tree Planting

By superadmin

A total of 18 Volunteers were sent to the Lower Grange estate (Allerton) on the outskirts of Bradford City where 21 holes needed to be dug for planting fruit or flowering trees in the front gardens of houses which belong to two local Housing Associations. The residents have been given the opportunity to apply to ‘Adopt a Tree’ and to choose whether they want an apple, pear or a flowering tree. The aim is to improve the health of the area by providing free fruit in season, colour and wildlife benefit during flowering and improvement in the outlook of what is a very rundown and deprived estate, thus increasing people’s pride in their garden and in the area and encouraging people to do more in their front garden and take care of it. The Volunteers worked in teams of 4 and completed the whole project within 4 hours.
