Sewa Day 2014 was officially launched today at the Vishwa Hindu Temple in Southall at a lunch attended by Gareth Thomas MP; Virendra Sharma MP; Uma Kumaran, PPC for Harrow East; Councillor Ajay Maru, Mayor of Harrow; Councillor Rajinder Mann, Mayor of Ealing; Councillors, members of the Sewa Day executive team, members of the temple committee and guests. Arup Ganguly announced that Sewa Day would take place on Sunday 5th October 2014, before introducing vignettes of case studies of previous Sewa Day projects.
The vignettes were presented by Harsh Vyas who spoke about the Grand Union canal towpath clearance undertaken in association with the Canal & River Trust; nine year old Dylan who spoke about the Navratri Food Bank Collection (see video above) in association with the Trussell Trust; Amar Purohit who highlighted his group’s two projects – Food for Life UK in Watford and visiting the Copeland Nursing Home in Wembley and Meenesh Mistry who spoke about the Exemplaris project in Southall. Guests also heard from Sudarshan Bhatia, President of the Vishwa Hindu Mandir, Virendra Sharma MP and Vikas Pota before enjoying a sumptuous vegetarian lunch served at the Mandir.
